Important Information

Greetings to you, Westport Moms!

I am coming to you as a long time fan, teacher and supporter of Westport Moms, and now Director of Westport Women.

Westport Moms was birthed in the early years of Westport Church. For a number of years it was attended by a majority of the young moms in the church. It has provided support, encouragement, prayer and fun for nearly six years.  I have stood both on the sidelines and in the trenches watching God raise up and equip new leaders, and connect moms with one another in order to draw strength and support. It has been sweet!

I have also watched as the number of regular participants has decreased over the last three years. I believe this is due to the "graduation" of many of the long time participants becoming school moms; not to mention, the challenge of keeping up with church growth.

But the truth is, moms need each other. It is common to become an island in these years, and to feel as though there is something wrong with you if your kids fight you at bedtime or throw a fit over eating peas. And while young moms need each other, they also need older moms who have come out on the other side...alive! :)

In addressing the changes and needs above, we have decided to simplify and unify the two ministries - Westport Moms (WPM) and Westport Women (WPW). A marriage of sorts.

In the very near future Westport Moms will be joined to Westport Women. They will no longer be a separate entity, but will be encouraged to connect more with the women of Westport as a whole. There will still be several opportunities to do activities geared towards a young moms group, you may just see some "old-er women" jump in now and then! :)

Your faithful leader, Julie Goodman, is not going anywhere. In fact, she is supported now more than ever by a group of women on the WPW leadership team, including myself!

She has also asked Leah Scott to come along side her as a co-leader representing the young moms on the WPW leadership team. We are THRILLED to be adding Leah. I personally know of Leah's commitment to God and to her family and know she will be an great asset.
As a fan of Westport Moms, I believe wholeheartedly this is going to be good! My prayer is that this leads to a unity among the women of Westport, as well as simplicity as we all move towards the same goal of growing up (encountering Jesus) and out (experiencing some NEW relationships).

I would happy to answer any questions, understanding that I may not have all the answers. I think there are some things we will have to figure out as we go and would ask for grace in the process. I am glad to be sitting together again in Bible Study, and I look forward to more chances to connect at a deeper level in the future!

By His Grace,
Danell
Pssst...the spring schedule remains the same, and the Summer Park Days are in the works! Woo hoo!
Thanks, Julie and Leah for your hard work!
